Jason Collier Creates New Arrangements of Unpublished Songs
Jason Collier, songwriter and Jazz Studies graduate student at Georgia State University, is the recipient of a Graduate Assistantship supported by The Johnny Mercer Foundation. As part of his assistantship, he will spend several semesters working with unpublished materials from the Johnny Mercer Collection held by GSU Special Collections and Archives.
Currently, Jason is using draft music and lyrics written by Mercer to create new arrangements for jazz combo and big band. His songwriting and trumpet skills will be on display at an upcoming performance of these new compositions.
