Paul Williams to Receive 2020 Johnny Mercer Award

Paul Williams has been chosen to receive the 2020 Johnny Mercer Award at the 51st Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Dinner, which will be held in New York on June 11th.

Paul Williams is a composer, songwriter, singer, and actor, as well as the current President and Chairman of the Board of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). He has written a number of hits over his decades-long career, including Three Dog Night’s “An Old Fashioned Love Song”, David Bowie’s “Fill Your Heart”, and the Oscar-nominated “Rainbow Connection” from The Muppet Movie.

The Johnny Mercer Award is the highest honor given by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, reserved for songwriters or songwriting teams who have already been inducted and whose body of work is of such high quality and impact that it upholds the gold standard set by Johnny Mercer.
