Writers Colony Salon-Style Session Program Launched
After so many requests from writers that have participated in the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed, The Johnny Mercer Foundation is now continuing salon-style gatherings for its musical writers in bi-weekly sessions. These sessions are held in New York City. The sessions are an informal opportunity for the writers to continue to share their recent work in an inspiring environment with veteran Broadway and young working professionals in theater today.
This pilot program launched April 16th and will continue on April 30th and May 14th. Future sessions are also being planned. The sessions are curated and organized by Jonathan Brielle. Jonathan is the Writer/Producer in residence at the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed and Vice President of The Johnny Mercer Foundation. Over the last six years, over 200 writers have participated in the Goodspeed Colony programs and out of the 14 musicals worked on each year, almost half go into production.
