Lari White will be posthumously honored and inducted into the Women Songwriters Hall of Fame this year! The ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 20th at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Lari was an award-winning country musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. She released seven albums, including the certified gold Wishes in 1994. Her voice was often described as strong and soulful, and her music (especially her later albums) often blended blues and soul music into country stylings. When she felt she no longer fit neatly into industry-standard country radio, Lari pivoted to creating genre-defying music at her independent studio The Holler.

For us, Lari spent several years mentoring young talent through our Songwriters Project program. Her kind guidance to up-and-coming talent was just one example of her philanthropic and humanitarian nature. She passed away in 2018 from peritoneal cancer, but her legacy as a pioneering artist and producer endures.
