Since 1995, The Johnny Mercer Foundation has supported Braille Institute through the creation of the Johnny Mercer Music Program, which includes the Johnny Mercer Children’s Choir.

The Children’s Choir helps blind and visually impaired children find their voices through music instruction and performance.

The program has faced many challenges this year, given the pandemic and generally difficult circumstances, but they have continued their work nonetheless. In fact, they’ve even found new opportunities in virtual formats; traditionally, the program is only accessible to children from Los Angeles and Orange County, but digital lessons have allowed them to expand to include Braille Institute children from elsewhere as well. We’re very proud of all they continue to accomplish.
